Visit to graves

We went and visited the graves of our loved ones last Sunday to avoid the crowds of the weekend. It was a lovely experience. First we went to the graves of Grandma and Grandpa Great (i.e. LeGrand and June) and the kids remembered a little bit about them. They remembered several of the stories and found it a pleasant place to be. Then, we went to see the grave of Steve's brother, Darin, who died at two days old. It was really touching as we reminded the kids that this is still their uncle and they will have the chance to get to know him. We talked about how he would be having his 20th year class reunion this year and the things he would be doing now. But then we talked about how he must have been a very valiant spirit and that Heavenly Father must have really needed him in heaven and that we will have the chance to get to know him and enjoy him. We talked about different things that Heavenly Father wants us to do and about the real blessings that the Resurrection brings. It was just what Memorial Day is supposed to be- a bit of remembering those we love, a bit of looking forward with faith, and a bit of understanding the true picture and a glimpse of eternal perspective.

Thank you for sharing your spiritual perspective. That was a beautiful tribute to Darin.
