Can we do it?
Steve's car had a major breakdown last week and needs a big repair. We spent a lot of time discussing whether to pay to have it fixed, fix it ourselves (well, the Steve part of ourselves), or to buy a new car. With the economy as it is, getting a new car is kind of scary. We also aren't sure if paying as much as the repair will cost is a wise idea for an old car with several problems. So we decided to try to fix it ourselves. Ammon is taking an active part in the repair since he will be driving in two years. But, like I said, it is a major repair and will take a long time. Luckily the play is over so our nights will free up, but there are still only so many hours in the day, and Ammon and Steve work every day. We have been driving Steve's Mom's car for the last week, but it goes away on the 1st so we are in a dilemma. Can we actually survive on one car for a good portion of the summer? People survived on one car (or no car) for years, but we are used to the two car luxury. We only had one car for the first six years of our marriage, but the kids were littler and we didn't have their activities to figure into our schedules. Luckily, Steve works close enough that he can ride his bike to work, but it doubles his commute time and it is going to be blazing hot! We are hoping that he can take the car in the morning, take Ammon up the canyon and then come home at lunch and ride his bike or get a ride for the afternoon. That way I will have the car to get Ammon home and run the other kids. It's an interesting situation. We know that we really can't do it for long during the school year, but it should make for an adventurous summer!

Oh my goodness! Would Steve like to borrow our scooter? It's licensed and just sits in our shed. James is the only one that drives it and he'll be gone for three weeks in July. Let me know!
In response to your question - we happened to go to Superhero Academy on THURSDAY - fancy that! So sorry we missed him! That would have been a blast to spend the day with him! Sorry about the driving situation!!
